Article: Harry's Gin & Tonic with a Twist

Harry's Gin & Tonic with a Twist
I love my Gin & Tonic recipe because it elevates the classic cocktail by enhancing its aromas to blossom beautifully with additional touches. Using premium gin and tonic water, I add unique twists like some fresh lemon, good quality bitters and fruity, citrusy or herbal components. This cocktail is not just a drink, but an experience, perfect for savoring at any gathering. Always serve the cocktail with all the components except for the tonic water. Allowing your drinking companion to pour their own tonic water adds to a unique experience.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz The Botanist Gin, Gin Mare or Hendricks
- 4 oz Fever-Tree Tonic Water
- Aromatic bitters
- Fresh lemon juice, from half a lemon
- Lemon peel
- A bag of fruity or citrusy tea
- A sprig of rosemary
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Glass:
- Fill a red wine glass with ice cubes to chill.
2. Mix the Drink:
- Pour the gin over the ice.
- Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice and drop the lemon half into the glass.
- Add a few dashes of aromatic bitters.
- Stir gently to mix the flavors.
3. Add the Tea Bag:
- Place a bag of citrusy or herbal tea into the glass. This not only infuses the drink with subtle flavors but also adds an intriguing visual element.
4. Garnish:
- Twist a strip of lemon peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass.
- Add a sprig of rosemary.
5. Serve:
- Give the cocktail a final gentle stir. With the tonic water bottle by its side, serve immediately to enjoy its crisp, complex flavors.
5. Top with Tonic:
- Slowly pour the Fever-Tree tonic water over a spoon to preserve the effervescence and integrate the tonic smoothly with the gin mixture.
This Gin & Tonic variation is inspired by my appreciation for high-quality ingredients and the joy of creating something visually stunning and delicious. It’s perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a sophisticated, refreshing drink at home.
